Gilbert's 2006 Readers' Choice Award Winners

By Ian Kogneeto

January 2007

Your votes have been counted, but not without some consternation. Considerable time was spent during my holiday going through each ballot, deciphering voter intent. It seems a glitch on our Web site caused the categories on ballots cast on our site during the first seven days to be jumbled. Not a big problem if it weren't for the high volume of participants this year.

Rest assured, I feel confident that all your votes were counted and we have our official 2006 Readers' Choice winners for Gilbert.

If anyone would like to file for a recount, you'll have to go bark up another tree. I've had it with these things until next year.

Thank you to all who took the time to participate during the busy holiday season.

I had an editorial debate prior to the December issue with the publisher, who thought we should solicit the Readers' Choice votes in January as we had in the past. My contention was that the results should come out in January, which meant you would have to vote during the busy holiday season. Though he remained skeptical, I was able to convince him to give it a try.

Thankfully, there were nearly 50 percent more voters this year, meaning I'll probably get him to agree with me in the future. He's a numbers guy.

Well, without further ado, here are the Gilbert 2006 Readers' Choice winners. Congratulations!
